What is Safelink Decoder?

Google Safelink URLs are redirect wrappers used by Google services (especially Gmail) that encode the real destination URL as a query parameter, e.g. https://www.google.com/url?q=https://example.com&sa=U&ved=...

How It Works

The tool parses the input URL, extracts the 'q' query parameter (or 'url' parameter for some variants), and URL-decodes it to reveal the original destination. It also handles Bing (bing.com/search?url=) and Outlook (safelinks.protection.outlook.com) redirect formats.

Common Use Cases

  • Unwrapping Gmail link redirects
  • Extracting real URLs from Outlook SafeLinks
  • Removing tracking redirect wrappers

Technical Details

Uses the URL and URLSearchParams APIs to parse query parameters. Handles Google (q=), Outlook (url=), and Bing redirect formats. Performs recursive unwrapping if the decoded URL is itself another redirect.

How to Use

  1. Paste the Safelink URL
  2. Click Decode
  3. Copy the original destination URL

Privacy

All processing happens in your browser. Your data is never uploaded to any server.

FAQ

What is a Safelink URL?

A Safelink URL is a Google redirect wrapper (https://www.google.com/url?q=...) that obscures the destination URL, often used in Gmail and Google services.

Does this send the URL to any server?

No. Decoding is done entirely in your browser by parsing the URL parameters. No network requests are made.
