Email Normalizer
Normalize email addresses by removing dots, plus-addressing, and casing for Gmail/Googlemail. Free, private, browser-based.
Local processingWhat is Email Normalizer?
Email normalization converts equivalent email addresses to a canonical form. For Gmail, dots in the local part are ignored ([email protected] = [email protected]) and plus-addressing tags are stripped ([email protected] = [email protected]).
How It Works
The tool splits each email at @, lowercases both parts, and for Gmail/Googlemail domains removes all dots and everything after + in the local part. Non-Gmail addresses are only lowercased and trimmed.
Common Use Cases
- Deduplicating email lists
- Identifying the same Gmail account with different dot/plus variants
- Normalizing user input before storage
Technical Details
Gmail normalization rules: (1) lowercase, (2) remove dots from local part, (3) strip plus-addressing (everything from + to @). These rules are Gmail-specific; most other providers treat dots as significant.
How to Use
- Enter one email per line
- Click Normalize
- Copy the canonical email addresses

FAQ
What does normalization do?
For Gmail addresses, it removes dots from the local part (user.name → username), strips plus-addressing (user+tag → user), and lowercases the domain. This produces the canonical form for deduplication.
Which providers are normalized?
Gmail and Googlemail have dot and plus-addressing normalization. Other providers only get lowercased and trimmed.
