What is Text to Unicode?

Unicode code points are numerical identifiers assigned to every character in the Unicode standard. Each character maps to a unique integer (e.g., A = U+0041, 😀 = U+1F600).

How It Works

The tool iterates over each character using codePointAt() to get its numeric code point, then formats it in the selected output format. Decoding parses the formatted strings back to characters using fromCodePoint().

Common Use Cases

  • Debugging character encoding issues
  • Inspecting special or emoji characters
  • Creating escape sequences for source code

Technical Details

Uses String.prototype.codePointAt() for encoding and String.fromCodePoint() for decoding. Supports BMP (U+0000–U+FFFF) and supplementary planes (U+10000–U+10FFFF) including emoji.

How to Use

  1. Enter text in the input field
  2. Select output format (U+XXXX, \uXXXX, or decimal)
  3. Click Convert and copy the result

Privacy

All processing happens in your browser. Your data is never uploaded to any server.
